Ortal Isaac is a rising second-year law student at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. She graduated in 2016 with a B.A. in Comparative Literature & Society from Columbia University and a B.A. in Jewish Literature from the Jewish Theological Seminary. Before attending law school, Ortal spent four years working as a paralegal at a small criminal defense firm in New York City and volunteered as a patient advocate for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence in hospital emergency rooms. In 2022, Ortal completed an LL.M. in European & Global Law at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Her master's thesis focused on a comparative analysis of abortion access in the United States and Europe. As a law student, she is an Associate Editor of the California Law Review, serves on the editorial board of the Berkeley Journal of International Law, and is an active participant in student-led pro bono projects, including the Reproductive Justice Project and Digital Rights Project.
