I hold a bachelor's degree in History from Universidad de Sonora in Hermosillo, Mexico, my hometown. My research interests center on the history and struggles of indigenous populations in Sonora, particularly the Yaqui people. I am currently a PhD student in the History Department, focusing on the history of the Yaqui in the early decades of the 20th century, with a particular interest in Yaqui militias and conscripts in the Mexican Army. My work has been supported by SECIHITI-CONTEX, the Tinker Foundation, and the Mexico Center/E.D. Farmer Award.
