Charles Moyer Human Rights Fellow, American Civil Liberties Union of Texas (2020)
Summer Human Rights Fellows

Samantha Acuña (B.A. 2019, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; J.D. expected 2022) will be interning at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Texas this summer. As the ninth Charles Moyer Human Rights Fellow, Samantha will work primarily on issues concerning the Rio Grande Valley. The ACLU of Texas works to ensure the civil rights and liberties that are challenged across the state time after time. During her time at Texas Law, Samantha has participated in Pro Bono in January’s clinics group and will be a part of the leadership team for next year’s trip in 2020. In addition, she will be joining the Chicano/Hispanic Law Students’ Association board as the Communications Director and Banquet Co-Chair. During her time as an undergraduate, Samantha worked with Upward Bound Math and Science and at the Department of Education’s Office of Migrant Education focused on helping communities with migrant populations, like the one she comes from. After law school, Samantha hopes to focus on human rights law.
