Sara Zavaleta

Sara Zavaleta is a queer Latina scholar, poet, and photographer whose work centers on issues of immigration, sexuality, gender, and healthcare. She is a first-year Masters student at the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Sara is particularly interested in researching how queer and trans Latinas in South and Central Texas exercise agency while navigating healthcare.
