Tom Elliott is a PhD student in the Department of Government. His research focuses on national and local-level political reactions to recent technology-driven labor market changes. Specifically, his current work examines interactions between app-based service providers, such as Uber and Airbnb, and local governments around the world. Prior to graduate school he worked in Bolivia as a Keck Undergraduate Research Fellow, served as a Fulbright ETA at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and worked as a research consultant on community natural resource management programs in East Africa. Tom has a BA in Political Science and Spanish from Whittier College.
