Upasana Garnaik is a graduate student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Texas at Austin. Upasana is a lawyer by training. After receiving her LLM from Duke Law School in 2012, she has been working as an academic and practitioner in the field of gender and family law.
Upasana is the recipient of a 2020 Fieldwork Grant on Human Rights & Inequality. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, her award will be deferred until a time when she is able to travel to Delhi, India, to conduct her fieldwork.
