Yenibel Ruiz Mirabal

Yenibel Ruiz Mirabal is a journalist and filmmaker from Venezuela with 20 years of experience in the media industry. Their short documentary, titled "Leaving It All Behind," portrays the stories of Venezuelan migrants on the Colombia-Venezuela border. Additionally, they are a researcher specializing in Venezuela and Venezuelan immigrants who have crossed informal borders in Colombia, as well as along the Mexico-US border. They earned a master's degree in Journalism and Cultural Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, are in the final stages of completing their Ph.D. in Cultural Studies, and have nine years of teaching experience. They are a Venezuelan transmigrant living in the U.S. and an activist and advocate for human rights.
