Human Rights and Global Societies Coffee Chat

Location: RLP 1.106

UNDERGRADS: join us for the inaugural semester of Human Rights and Global Societies Coffee Chats, a partnership between the Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice and International Relations and Global Studies. Facilitated by undergraduate student leaders, each Coffee Chat will explore a different topic related to human rights, national identity, and cultural politics.

This week’s student discussion leader, Ulviya Chisty, has chosen three resources and proposed the following questions for discussion.

Readings:

https://artincontext.org/political-art/
https://different-level.com/how-art-and-politics-influence-and-shape-each-other/
https://www.widewalls.ch/magazine/political-art/face2face-project

Discussion questions:

How does art shape our political space?
What examples have you seen when art made a difference?
What type of art is the best way to create awareness? Is there a particular type that reaches more people than the others?
Has social media changed the impact of art?
