“Refugees welcome?” National and European dimensions of Germany’s recent refugee policies

Dietrich Thränhardt is one of the most renowned European immigration scholars. He has published extensively on German and European immigration and integration policies, and he is the author of several comparative studies on immigration in Europe, Canada and the US. In his talk he will focus on the influx of Syrian refugees to the European Union since 2015, Germany’s contradictory responses to this refugee immigration, and the European Union’s struggle to find a common approach in the field of migration policies.
