As part of a multi-year research project on Afro-Descendant and indigenous land rights in Latin America, the Rapoport Center sent interdisciplinary fact-finding delegations of professors and students to Colombia, Brazil, and Ecuador to assess local land rights situations and write reports about their findings, including policy recommendations to relevant governmental, intergovernmental, and nongovernmental organizations and policymakers.
The Rapoport Center coordinated a spring break fact-finding delegation to Brazil in 2008 to investigate and gather information on the status of collective land claims by Afro-Brazilian communities.
