The 2016 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business recognized 18 Brooks Pierce attorneys, including a University of Texas School of Law alumnus, as leaders in their respective practice areas.

Brooks Pierce partner Reid Phillips, who earned his juris doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in 1977, was recognized for Litigation: General Commercial. Phillips as previously nominated by his peers for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America” in Commercial Litigation, Banking & Finance Litigation, and Intellectual Property Litigation, and was named “Lawyer of the Year” in 2015 for Banking and Finance Litigation.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker recently announced the appointment of James Cicconi to serve on the U.S. Commerce Department’s Digital Economy Board of Advisors, which will provide recommendations on ways to advance economic growth and opportunity in the digital age.

Reid Phillips

Brooks Pierce has named Reid Phillips as the firm’s managing partner, effective January 1. He follows Ed Winslow, who had led the firm since 2000.

Phillips, one of North Carolina’s top litigators, has served on the firm’s management committee since 2003 and as the firm’s general counsel since 2000. He will continue to actively practice law while providing strategic leadership and guidance to Brooks Pierce, which has more than 90 attorneys in Greensboro, Raleigh and Wilmington.
