Application Fee Waiver

A $70 nonrefundable application fee must be paid at the time the electronic application is submitted.  The following individuals are eligible for a fee waiver: (1) bona fide Texas residents; (2) recipients of LSAC’s need-based waivers; (3) members and alumni of AmeriCorps, Peace Corps and Teach for America; and (4) those who have served or are serving in the U.S. Military.

Texas Resident Fee Waiver

Applicants interested in receiving a fee waiver must first register with the Law School Admission Council’s Candidate Referral Service. Once we have verified your CRS registration, we will create a personalized fee waiver through LSAC. There is no separate Texas Resident fee waiver form.

If you are asked to pay when you reach your shopping cart, and you are a bona fide Texas resident, you will need to contact the Law School before you apply.

We cannot refund your application fee if you apply to us prior to receiving our fee waiver offer by email.

Need-based Fee Waiver

Any applicant seeking a need-based fee waiver is required to first apply for a waiver from LSAC. We encourage you to begin this process early. Texas Law will waive the electronic application fee automatically for JD applicants who have been granted an LSAC fee waiver. We cannot refund your application fee if you apply to us prior to being granted LSAC’s fee waiver.

AmeriCorps, Peace Corps and Teach for America (TFA) Fee Waivers

The University of Texas School of Law is proud to be a member of the Teach for America (TFA) Graduate School Partnership which entitles corps members and alumni to an application fee waiver upon verification of membership. Teach for America corps members and alumni, along with AmeriCorps and Peace Corps members and alumni, seeking fee waivers should send a copy of their verification letter with their LSAC account number to

U.S. Military Fee Waiver

The application fee will also be waived if you have served or are serving in the United States military.  To request the U.S. Military fee waiver, please send a copy of documentation of military service (i.e., your DD Form 214 or proof of orders)  and your LSAC account number to
