LAB Program Honors Fellowships

12-15
scholarships
each year

The Texas Law and Business Program (the “LAB Program”) serves to bridge the gap between law and business for our students, and our Honors Fellows will play an intricate role in furthering the Program’s mission of creating lawyers who are business-minded and ready to enter the world of transactional law.

The LAB Program anticipates awarding 12 to 15 scholarships to deserving students each year.  Each Honors Fellow will receive $1,000 per semester for the 2024 – 2025 academic year. 1Ls and rising 2Ls and 3Ls, as well as L.L.M. students, are eligible to apply.

Expectations

We expect our Honors Fellows to spend an average of 8-10 hours/week on program matters over the course of the year.  Additionally, Honors Fellows are expected to:

  • promote the LAB Program and the Law School’s mission to expand opportunities in the corporate world for our graduates;
  • help plan academic conferences, workshops, and/or speaker series;
  • provide new ideas for LAB Program curriculum and events;
  • collaborate with the LAB Program’s partners on and off campus,
  • network with alumni; and
  • provide mentorship to undergraduate students.

Additionally, LAB Program Honors Fellows that are 2Ls or 3Ls are expected to take the required number of credit hours of courses listed under Affiliated Courses and Clinical Opportunities each academic year.

Activities

Mini-Mester: It is currently anticipated that each summer, Honors Fellows will have the opportunity to spend 2 weeks in New York, London or another major financial city interning at a business where they can further their education and real-world experience. Fellows will receive 1 credit for completing the Mini-Mester.

More to come!
