Description

This seminar will focus on cutting-edge research in law and economics. In nine of the classes, I will host a workshop during which a leading scholar will present a paper. In the four weeks in which there is no outside speaker (other than the first class, which is for background and organization), the seminar will meet to discuss the papers that will be presented in the next two workshops (we will not discuss the last paper). All students are required to write short critiques of the speakers’ papers. Your critiques will be graded and made available to the speaker. Students will also be required to participate in two group presentations in which they explain the papers to be presented in the following weeks (your short pieces will be referred to as “critiques” and the works presented by the visiting speakers will be referred to as “papers”). Students are expected to attend every meeting of the seminar and to participate in discussion. Although your critiques and presentations will have the greatest weight in computing your grade, I will make substantial adjustments for class participation.
