This class will address the skills and abilities necessary to be a successful practitioner in the field of international arbitration. Students will develop an understanding of the role of international arbitration under a number of schemes, including commercial arbitration and investor-state arbitration. They will also develop an understanding of the process and component parts of international arbitrations, how to craft persuasive arguments for international arbitral tribunals, and the major differences between oral arguments in litigation and international arbitration. Students will be evaluated based on individual and group assignments. There is no final exam. Attendance is required. This class is designed to complement the substantive concepts learned in the classes Arbitration, International Commercial Arbitration, International Litigation and Arbitration, and International Investor-State Arbitration. It is highly recommended that students have taken or are currently taking at least one of these classes.
