Description

This class is a more rigorous and competitive class and will move at a much faster pace than Advocacy Survey. The class does not require formal training, but does require an interest and dedication beyond that of the basic class. Students will try 4 cases throughout the course of the semester: 2 solo mini- trials and 2 full trials with partners. Cases will be both civil and criminal, and the class will particularly emphasize cross-examination skills. All classes will occur during the day. This is a 4-credit course with three hours graded on a pass/fail basis and a one credit hour test. The class is offered only during the fall semester. The goal of the class is to prepare to try cases better than 80% of the opponents you will face in your first year of practice. Prerequisites: Advocacy Survey and Evidence (can be taken concurrently; if you are in Advocacy Survey contemporaneously with this class, you may opt out of the Advocacy Survey skills session).
