Description
This course will cover selected topics in administrative law by comparing the position in the US with that in the UK and Australia. A basic understanding of the principles of US constitutional and administrative law is assumed. Areas covered will include the constitutional and institutional framework of administrative law, rule-making, judicial review (standing, grounds of review, remedies and so on) and non-judicial review (by ALJs, for instance). The emphasis will be on theories and concepts rather than on the detail of the law of the various jurisdictions. Assessment will be based on short written presentations to the class and a 5,000-6,000 written assignment.Instructors
