Description

The class will meet six times, alternatively at the homes of Professors Bobbitt and Levinson. It will focus on Professor Levinson’s book, "Framed: America’s 51 Constitutions and the Crisis of Governance", and John Dinan’s book, "The American State Constitutional Tradition". The emphasis will be on structural features of the United States and American state constitutions and the extent to which they contribute to, or hinder, effective governance in the 21st century. Each student will be asked to prepare two (2) “response papers” to the assigned reading for that week, approximately 750-1000 words in length that should both assess the reading and, just as importantly, propose discussion questions for the meeting that week.
