This is a course in the substantive law regulating immigration to the United States and the regulation of non-citizens in the United States. Topics covered include the constitutional law aspects of the immigration and removal (deportation) process, entry, conduct of hearings, relief from removal, and general regulation of non-citizens. In addition, the refugee and asylum will be discussed. The final exam will be open book. LLM students will be required to take the exam; there will be no paper option. The course will have 42 sessions of 50 minutes -- the standard total for a three unit course. However, it will be spread over 4 days during the semester because of some scheduling problems.
