Description

This course explores the principles and challenges that define public health law. Students will examine how the state's public health powers and duties are weighed against individuals' legally protected rights, developing an understanding of where and when these interests align and where they conflict. Topics covered include infectious disease control, population health policy, emergency preparedness, family and individual privacy, law's role in shaping healthy behaviors and choices, public health surveillance, and health disparities.
