Chris Moore has more than 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. For the past 20 years, he has provided a wide range of consulting services to clients from small international start-ups to super-majors, first as a managing director of the industry commercial consulting firm Moyes & Co. and now as an independent consultant. He provides advice on technical, financial, and economic issues, including business and strategic planning, decision analysis, valuations, funding support, transaction management, and expert witness testimony.

Moore studied natural sciences at the University of Cambridge where he received his BA and MA degrees. After working as a geologist for BP in Aberdeen, London, and Tunis from 1975 to 1980, he joined Tricentrol in London, initially working on geological evaluations and economic analyses on a wide variety of international projects. He then moved to corporate planning, and following ARCO’s acquisition of Tricentrol in 1988, he joined ARCO British as planning manager. In 1989 he moved to ARCO’s international headquarters in Plano, Texas, where he held a variety of technical, commercial, and management positions including exploration planning advisor, exploration director for West Africa, director of exploration evaluation, planning manager for Asia, Bohai Bay asset manager for ARCO China and then manager, China Asset Development Team, before joining Moyes & Co.
Moore is a fellow of the Geological Society of London and a member of SPE, AAPG, and AIPN. He was an active participant in the SPE’s Hydrocarbon Economics and Evaluation Symposia from 1995-99, and was a member of the Program Committee and a session co-chairman in 1997 and 1999. Moore is also active in the AIPN where he co-chaired the Model Contracts Template, Terms and Definitions Project, and is a co-chairman of its economic evaluation and valuation workshops. He teaches economic analysis, fiscal systems, valuation practices, and competitive bidding theory and practice for post-graduate courses at Texas Law and at the University of Texas at Dallas.
