David A. Anderson

David Anderson is an expert in torts, mass media law, and First Amendment law. Prior to his retirement in 2018, he taught these subjects along with a seminar on fiction by lawyers at Texas Law. Before entering law school, Professor Anderson worked as a political journalist. He is the co-author of "Mass Media Law" and "Cases and Materials on Torts," and has written two non-law books and numerous articles.

Professor Anderson retired at the beginning of 2018. Previously he taught torts, mass media law, First Amendment law, and a seminar on fiction by lawyers. He worked as a political journalist for several years before entering law school, where he was a Chancellor and an editor of the Texas Law Review. He has lectured at universities in Australia, England, Sweden, Italy, and The Netherlands.
He is co-author of Mass Media Law (Foundation, 9th ed., 2016) and Cases and Materials on Torts (West, 4th ed., 2011). His many articles include "The Promises of New York Times v. Sullivan," (Roger Williams University Law Review, 2015)," Wechsler's Triumph" (Alabama Law Review 2014) and "Transnational Libel" (Virginia Journal of International Law 2012).
Professor Anderson has published two non-law books, one about domestic architecture and one a memoir about the life and death of a remote plains community.
