Clay Avery

H.C “Clay” Avery is a licensed attorney in the State of Texas who focuses on Alternative Dispute Resolution. Clay believes in using mediation as the primary means for conflict resolution. Through his years of experience as a mediator, Clay has become a strong believer in the Community-Based approach to collaborative problem solving. A member of the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association, he holds a TMCA Credentialed Advanced Mediator designation. He is an active volunteer mediator at the Austin Dispute Resolution Center and currently trains future mediators for both the Austin DRC and Tarrant County Dispute Resolution’s 40-hour basic mediator training course. In addition to teaching Mediation at the University of Texas School of Law, he has served as contingent faculty at St. Edward’s University in Austin, teaching Conflict Analysis and Resolution as part of the Doctorate of Leadership in Higher Education program. Clay is on the board of the Austin Mediators Association, currently serving as the Association’s Treasurer, and is a board member of the Texas Association of Mediators. Clay holds a BBA from Texas Christian University and a JD from the University of Texas School of Law.
