Meagan Belovsky

Meagan Belovsky is the director and clinical professor of the Domestic Violence Clinic. Her career reflects an unwavering commitment to survivor advocacy and trauma-informed legal representation for victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and stalking. Drawn to this work immediately after law school by the disproportionate impact domestic violence has on women and children, she has dedicated her practice to building a safer future for vulnerable communities and to training the next generation of lawyers to do the same.

Prior to joining Texas Law, Prof. Belovsky served as a public interest attorney and clinician at the Randall O. Sorrels Legal Clinics at South Texas College of Law Houston, where she led the Domestic Violence Clinic and represented survivors in matters including protective orders, divorce, and child custody. She also taught a seminar on Domestic Violence and the Law, exploring the reach of domestic violence across employment, immigration, and criminal law.

Earlier in her career, Prof. Belovsky was a staff attorney at Denton County Friends of the Family, a domestic violence shelter in Denton, Texas, where she provided direct legal services to residents in crisis. She began her legal career with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid through the Legal Aid for Survivors of Sexual Assault Project, advocating on behalf of survivors of sexual abuse.
