Michael R. Krawzsenek

Michael Krawzsenek's practice focuses on patent procurement, product clearance and development, and implementation of intellectual property protection programs for multinational, early stage and startup companies. Krawzsenek’s patent procurement experience includes preparing, prosecuting, and managing thousands of utility and design patents throughout the world. Representative countries and regions include the United States, China, Korea, Europe, the Middle East, Mexico and Brazil. Krawzsenek also has extensive experience in performing freedom to operate (FTO), landscape, non-infringement, and invalidity analyses and opinions in a wide range of industries, such as the chemical, petrochemical, biotech, skin- and wound-care and consumer products industries. This experience includes preparing such analyses and opinions in the United States and managing similar projects throughout the world.

He has had several opportunities to advise, set-up and manage IP protection programs for cosmetic, chemical, pharmaceutical and petrochemical companies. This experience allows him to operate as a company's in-house and outside patent counsel simultaneously, which increases efficiencies in the patent procurement and clearance processes. As an adjunct professor at Texas Law since 2013, heh teaches a patent prosecution class that focuses on utility and design patent protection processes. Krawzsenek received his JD from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2001 and his BS in biochemistry and cell biology from the University of California, San Diego. Outside of work he enjoys coaching youth basketball for his three boys and reading books about the history of science.
