Using Intensifiers is Literally a Crime
Abstract
In persuasive legal writing, lawyers sometimes overuse intensifiers: clearly, highly, blatantly, and others. This article notes the criticism of overused intensifiers and offers other techniques for creating emphasis. It concludes by reporting some positive news about lawyers' use of the word literally.
