Saxon Words and Romance Words

This article discusses the differences between the many concepts, both legal and nonlegal, that can be expressed in words of Saxon origin (usually short, simple words) or words of Romance origin (usually longer, more-formal words). Some examples: help/assist, wish/desire, cease/desist, lawyer/attorney. It then offers some suggestions for using the two types of words generally and for persuasion.
