The Ethics of Med-Arb: Wearing Two Hats
New Year's Resolutions: Achieving Better Mediation Outcomes

Sara E. Saltmarsh is an attorney licensed in Texas and Florida who has been working in the dispute resolution field for nearly 30 years. She has also litigated general civil and family law cases since 1987 and has extensive trial experience. A trained mediator, arbitrator, and collaborative lawyer, Ms. Saltmarsh is an adjunct professor at the University of Texas School of Law, currently teaching Alternative Dispute Resolution. Ms. Saltmarsh is the President of Collaborative Divorce Austin, serves as a Director of the Collaborative Law Council of the State Bar of Texas, and is former Chair of the ADR and Family Law Sections of the Austin Bar Association. Ms. Saltmarsh is Board certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (since 1992), is AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell, and is a Texas Super Lawyer. She is a Lifetime Sustaining Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the Travis County Women Lawyers Association Foundation. Mediating for nearly thirty years, Ms. Saltmarsh is listed in the ABA Registry of Women in Dispute Resolution and has served on the Board of the Austin Bar ADR Section for ten years. She has been actively involved in local Bar associations throughout her career, served on the Board of Directors of the Austin Bar Association for several terms, was president of the Women's Law Section of Williamson County, serves on numerous Bar committees, and currently chairs the Preservation Committee of the Austin Bar Association. Ms. Saltmarsh is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law. Ms. Saltmarsh is a member of numerous professional organizations, including Collaborative Divorce Texas, the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, Austin Mediators' Association, the Global Collaborative Law Council, and the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists. Trained as a collaborative lawyer for over twenty years, Ms. Saltmarsh was a founding member of the Central Texas Collaborative Lawyers practice group and has been a Board member of Collaborative Divorce Austin since 2016. She is a passionate advocate for the increased use of collaborative law as a dispute resolution process.
