Steve Goode teaches evidence, criminal law, and a seminar on the jurisprudence of sports. He is the author of several books on the law of evidence and a member of the University's Academy of Distinguished Teachers.
Featured Work
A member of the UT Law faculty since 1977, Steve Goode holds the W. James Kronzer Chair in Trial and Appellate Advocacy and is a University Distinguished Teaching Professor. He served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 1998 to 2006 and as Dean ad interim in 2006. He is a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers and is the recipient of the Massey Teaching Excellence Award as well as the Texas Exes and SBA Teaching Excellence Awards. In 2017, he was awarded the University Civitatis Award.
Professor Goode teaches Evidence, Criminal Law, and a seminar on the jurisprudence of sports. His research focuses on the law of evidence. He is the lead author of several books on federal and Texas evidence law, and served as a reporter to the committees that drafted the Texas rules of evidence. He currently serves on the State Bar Advisory Committee on the Rules of Evidence and was a long-time member of the Court of Criminal Appeals' Rules Advisory Committee.
A graduate of Williams College and Yale Law School, Professor Goode practiced law with the Children's Defense Fund in Washington, D.C. before joining the Texas faculty.
