Description

Dell Technologies’ Legal Department has long recognized that diversity is crucial to achieving legal excellence, generating new ideas and inspiring innovation. Toward that end, we have established the Dell Technologies Legal Diversity Scholarship, which is designed to increase diversity within the legal profession. The Dell Technologies Legal Diversity Scholarship will provide financial, mentoring and networking support to an outstanding second or third-year law school student at the University of Texas. One recipient will be selected to receive $2,000 during the 2024-2025 school year. All scholarship applicants, even those not selected to receive the award, shall receive mentorship opportunities with members of the Dell Technologies Legal Department.

Please send your completed application to Dell.Legal.Diversity@dell.com by September 30, 2024. Recipients will be notified by October 21, 2024.

Eligibility
  • Applicants must be second or third-year law school students during the 2024-2025 school year at UT. The Dell Technologies Legal Diversity Scholar will receive a one-time, nonrenewable scholarship in the amount of $2,000. The scholarship is intended to defray the costs associated with law school such as tuition, fees, books and similar school-related expenses.
  • Diversity of the applicant may be based on a number of factors that could include race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical ability, economic or educational disadvantage, or identification with a historically underrepresented population in the legal profession.
  • Every application must include the following:
    • The completed application
    • A law school transcript
    • A résumé/CV
    • A personal essay focusing on diversity:
      • The essay must be typed and may not exceed two single-spaced pages.
      • The essay can describe your experiences with diversity, your commitment to diversity, how your background or personal experience would contribute to diversity in the legal profession, and/or how you will use your law degree to further diversity in the profession.
      • The essay should also describe how the scholarship would help you during law school and how you would use the scholarship proceeds. The Dell Technologies Legal Diversity Scholar will be selected on the basis of academic achievement, leadership potential, and commitment to, as well as interest in, serving diverse communities. Of all of the parts of the application, the essay carries the greatest weight. The Diversity Committee within the Dell Technologies Legal Department will manage the selection process. This scholarship program may be modified or discontinued in future years.
