The Center for Women in Law is pleased to announce the Lisa Atlas Genecov and Dr. Jeffery S. Genecov Endowed Presidential Scholarship for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Genecov scholarship is open to all 2L, 3L, or LLM students and will provide three $4,000 scholarships for three 2L, 3L, or LLM students with a demonstrated commitment to advancing women’s leadership. This includes legal work in nonprofit, pro bono, academic, government, and/or legislative settings.
The Center for Women in Law is a national resource and champion for women lawyers, generating lasting change within the legal profession. We believe in empowering and educating attorneys with tools to advance their careers. Founded in 2009 by women lawyers seeking to help future generations, the Center for Women in Law has had tremendous impact since its launch. We are actively seeking applicants who are interested in the Center’s strategic objectives:

Supporting multiple paths to success for women pursuing legal careers;

Empowering and encouraging lawyers to confidently build, navigate and advance their careers;

Celebrating the strength of individuals and the power of community to change the legal field;

Building relationships and networks to support women lawyers; and
-
Mentoring and supporting lawyers at all stages of their careers.
Scholarships will be awarded based on 1) commitment to advancing women’s leadership and career goals, 2) involvement and leadership in student organizations at the law school, and 3) alignment with the Center’s strategic objectives.
To apply, please submit the following by 5pm CST Thursday, June 18, 2026:

Cover page with name and contact information, including UT EID, email address, and the name of the scholarship/fellowship program. (Applicants who wish to apply for both the Atlas Genecov Scholarship and the Duddlesten Fellowship may submit one application and should clearly indicate on the cover page that they are applying to both.)

Resume.

Personal statement describing past/current commitment to women’s leadership and career goals following law school (not longer than one page, double-spaced).

One or two letters of recommendation from someone familiar with the applicant's commitment to women’s leadership. Signed letters of recommendation should be submitted by the recommender as an email attachment. They must be received by the June 12th deadline. (Please note the Center for Women in Law does not have access to letters of recommendation in the Admissions Office's files.)

If applying for Duddlesten Fellowship, please submit law school transcript and a brief description of existing education-related debt and plans for financing cost of law school.
Finalists may be asked to appear for Zoom interview during the week of June 22, 2026.
