Sister Helen Prejean is a member of the Congregation of Joseph and author of the book, Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States. Sister Helen has been instrumental in sparking national dialogue on the death penalty and helping to shape the Catholic Church’s newly vigorous opposition to state executions. She divides her time between educating citizens about the death penalty and counseling individual death row prisoners. She has accompanied six men to their deaths. Her novel inspired the hit movie, Dead Man Walking, which was nominated for four Academy Awards and won Best Actress.

Austin Asian American Bar Association (AAABA) will host their 6th Annual Career Event and Asian Law Studnets Association (ALSA) Mentorship Kickoff Program. This Annual Event "Ten Minute Mentors: An Interactive Introduction to the Practice of Law" begins with an hour of round table discussions featuring a variety of law practices, followed by networking with local and national Asian attorneys and judges.
