On April 15-17, 2015, the Center for Women in Law will convene leaders in law in Austin, Texas for the 2015 Women’s Power Summit on Law and Leadership. The Women's Power Summit, held every two years, is one of the most significant gatherings of women attorneys in the country. Law school deans, general counsel, federal and state judges, members of law firm management, government officials, state bar presidents, and other prominent women lawyers will attend the 2015 Women’s Power Summit, marking the fourth time leaders will gather in Austin to address issues of vital importance to women lawyers.

Need to take a break from studying for exams? Stop by the Atrium, visit with the CSO staff, and grab a snack and some swag for studying. Breakfast food will be served in the morning at 9:00 a.m. and pizza will be served in the afternoon at 11:45 a.m. All Texas Law students are invited!

This workshop is designed for 3Ls entering public interest law, government service, or any other field that qualifies for federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness. Explore federal loan repayment and loan forgiveness programs and the Texas Law Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) in greater depth in a small group setting. Bring your laptops and your questions. Nicole Simmons, Director of Public Service Programs in the CSO; Mary Crouter, Assistant Director of the William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law; and Mario Villa, Director of Student Recruitment and Financial Aid at Texas Law will facilitate the session. Students attending should be familiar with the material presented by Heather Jarvis from her presentation, “Public Service Loan Forgiveness in Five Easy Steps” (January 30, 2015; search the CSO eLibrary for a link to the presentation).

3Ls and LLMs are invited to get a jump on studying for the bar with these skills based sessions. Learn how to effectively write bar exam essay answers. TX bar questions will be used as examples. Sessions take place on Tuesdays at noon in TNH 2.124 and repeat Thursday at noon in TNH 2.124

Join ACS for a panel discussion about local efforts to reform the criminal justice system in Austin through legislation and activism, the impact these efforts have on minority communities, and how law students and lawyers can participate.

Spring 2015 Distinguished Lecture Series Sponsored by the Energy Center Speaker: Professor Owen Anderson. Professor Owen Anderson teaches on topics of Oil, Gas, and Natural Resources at the University of Oklahoma College of Law and a visiting professor at the University of Texas School of Law. Professor Anderson's presentation is entitled "Shifting Political Dynamics: Emerging Energy Issues in the Developing World."

All Texas Law international and domestic LL.M. students and international exchange students are invited to meet and network with Texas Law LL.M. alumni and friends to learn about their student experience and career path after graduation. Thursday, April 16, at Scholz Garten from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
