The Center for Women in Law, through the October Power Lunch Series, seeks to provide students with possible role models and mentors by exposing them to prominent women lawyers and other public figures from a wide range of career paths. Attending students will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their own career goals in an informal and interactive environment.

Director of Mentoring Programs - Remi Ratliff - invites all 1Ls in Sections 2 & 3 to join her for lunch and information regarding the Alumni Mentoring Program.

Texas keeps falling behind in education, and if we want to remain competitive with not only other states, but globally, our education system needs to catch up. In 2014, District Court Judge John Dietz found the Texas school finance system to be unconstitutional because it is not responsive to increasing standards, population growth in the state, or the educational needs of our students. Now the State Supreme Court is taking up the case. Join Chandra Villanueva of the Center for Public Policy Priorities and the American Constitution Society for a discussion about the right to a free public education and the constitutional questions raised by the inequality in resources available to certain Texas schools and students.

Contracts practice question for Section One only. Practice exam question – Tuesday, October 27 at 1:30pm in TNH 2.137. The question will take approximately an hour and then we will show a video of Professor Sokolow explaining both the substantive law and exam question considerations.

We would like to invite all interested 2Ls and 3Ls to participate in this year's Gibbs & Bruns Moot Court Tournament.

The Gibbs & Bruns Tournament is the first semester intramural moot court tournament, open to all 2Ls and 3Ls regardless of prior moot court experience. It will run from October 26 through November 6th with rounds on the evenings of Tuesday and Thursday starting at around 6:30 p.m. Registration closes and briefs are due by midnight, October 20, 2015.

After being shown at festivals worldwide, this groundbreaking documentary on the resistance to the 2009 Honduran coup d'état is coming to Austin.
