Join the American Journal of Criminal Law for our Career Talks with John Bash. John Bash is the current United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas. John Bash graduated from Harvard Law School before clerking on the United States Court of Appeals for the DC circuit and then clerking for the late Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court. Following his clerkships, he Gibson, Dunn, & Crutcher and then as an assistant solicitor general in the United States Department of Justice.

John Bash has served in his current role since 2017. A United States attorney is the chief federal law enforcement officer in their district and is charged with enforcing federal laws. Each United States attorney is also involved in civil litigation where the United States is a party.
