An overview of the real estate development process and relevant areas of law. The course will follow the general order of the development process being: land acquisition (or project acquisition for redevelopment), platting and zoning, construction contracts and architect contracts (including mechanic's lien laws) and leasing. Some attention will be given to construction finance and permanent finance from the point of view of the developer, and to aspects of environmental law, title assurance and real estate brokerage. No prerequisites.
