Description
This pass/fail course will expose students about to begin appellate clerkships to the type of writing and research they will be expected to do as clerks, as well as provide a glimpse into the judicial process at the appellate level. Students will analyze briefs and record excerpts, write bench memos, and draft and edit opinions and dissents. Attendance and completion of all individual and group writing assignments is required. This class is open only to students who have already accepted an appellate clerkship. Preference will be given to students with federal appellate clerkships, followed by those with state high court clerkships. Enrollment limited to 18.
