Speaker, Faculty Colloquium

Professor Mullenix gave a talk at a faculty colloquium at the University of Tennessee College of Law, entitled "Revising the Class Action Rule -- Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 23," on March 5, 2001. Professor Mullenix discussed the six year process by the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules in revising the class action rule between 1991 - 97. Professor Mullenix served on an ABA Task Force on Class Actions during this period, when she attended meetings of the Advisory Committee as it deliberated on changes to the class action rule. Professor Mullenix commented on both the rulemaking process, as well as the ultimate change to Rule 23, adding a new provision for interlocutory appeal of class certification decisions.
