Speaker and Panelist

Professor Mullenix was a speaker and panelist at a symposium: "Asbestos: Anatomy of a Mass Tort," sponsored by the University of Connecticut Law School and the Insurance Law Center, on November 3-4, 2005. She spoke on "Asbestos and the Future of Mass Tort Litigation." Professor Mullenix has written extensively on asbestos litigation as part of her body of work on mass tort litigation. During 1989-90 she was a Supreme Court Fellow at the Federal Judicial Center where she conducted an empirical study of two major federal asbestos class actions: In re School Asbestos Litigation (E.D. Pa.) and Cimino v. Raymark Industries, Inc. (E.D. Tex). In addition, Professor Mullenix worked on the underlying asbestos class action settlements that led to the Supreme Court opinions in Amchem Prods. Inc. v. Windsor (1997) and Ortiz v. Fibreboard (1999).
