Professor Mullenix presented a paper entitled: "American Exceptionalism and the Theory of Convergence: Are We There Yet?," as part of the Toronto Conference on "The Future of Categories," sponsored by the International Association of Procedural Law in Toronto, Canada on June 3-5, 2009. Mullenix's paper focuses on the ways in which common law and civil law systems handle and resolve complex litigation, and the ways in which the different legal systems have many procedures which arguably demonstrate convergence. Professor Mullenix is an elected member of the International Association of Procedural Law, and has served as a Reporter for past projects undertaken by the Association.
