    Winter Break Trip 2011 Information Table

    UT Law students will travel to the Rio Grande Valley to participate in law-related volunteer projects from January 9-14, 2011. The trips are being organized by PB in J, a law student organization, and the law school’s Pro Bono Program, whose joint vision is that UT Law students will have the opportunity to participate in meaningful pro bono work through a week-long service trip during the second week of January.

    Lives in the Law

    Featuring Pamela M. Brown, Director of the Bi-National Project on Family Violence, an initiative of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid. From 11:30 pm to 12:30 pm, Brown will speak about her innovative transborder work reuniting parents with internationally abducted children and her work advocating for the rights of victims of domestic violence in child custody disputes. From 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. she will talk about her life in the law. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Students may attend one or both sessions.     Human Rights Happy Hour

    As the fourth speaker in the Rapoport Center's Human Rights Happy Hour Speaker Series, Samera Esmeir will deliver a lecture titled "Temporalities of Struggle: National Liberation Movements and International Strategies of Rule." Esmeir is an assistant professor in the Rhetoric Department at the University of California, Berkeley.

    U.S. Marine Corps JAG Info Session

    Major Jeremiah Salame, former Battalion Executive Officer with the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, will discuss the opportunities and expectations of serving in the Marine Corps JAG.
