Reminder for 3Ls planning to sit for the TX July 2011 Bar Exam: in order for your In-State Application to Take the TX Bar Exam to be considered timely-filed it must be postmarked by Jan. 30, 2011. This deadline is strictly enforced. A $150 late fee will apply for all applications filed after Jan. 30 and up to the March 30, 2011 Absolute Deadline.

First, second- and third-year students and alumni up to one year after graduation are eligible to participate in Spring On-Campus Interviews per employer requests. Online bidding takes place January 31-February 7, 2011.

Law Students for Reproductive Justice will meet on Mon. Jan 31, room 3.126, from 3:30-4:30pm.

Hosted annually by the UT Law Career Services Office, Public Service Career Day (PSCD) is the largest public service job fair for law students in Texas. During both days of PSCD, which will be held February 3-4, 2011, public interest and government employers will conduct on-campus interviews for paid and unpaid summer and permanent positions in the Career Services Interview Suite.

During the first day of Public Service Career Day, representatives from public interest organizations, as well as federal, state and local government agencies will host informational tables, which provide an excellent opportunity for students to network and find out about current volunteer opportunities, summer internships and postgraduate positions. All UT Law students are encouraged to stop by. Please be sure to bring a copy of your resume.

Learn what to expect in a law firm interview by listening to a candid discussion about interviewing with Michael Newman, '95, Partner at Gardere (Dallas) and Susan Salch ’94, Partner at Cantilo & Bennett, L.L.P. (Austin). They will discuss interviewing strategies and the do's and don'ts of law firm interviewing. Lunch will be served.

Julia Vaughan, Executive Director of the Texas Board of Law Examiners, will be at UT Law on Tuesday, February 8 at 3:30 pm in the TNH 3.142. Ms. Vaughan will provide an overview of the Texas Bar Exam and the resources available to students to aid in preparation. 3L’s planning on taking the Texas Bar will find this session very informative.

This is the first of two mandatory meetings for 2Ls & 3Ls who will be applying for judicial clerkships. UT Law Judicial Clerkship Advisors will discuss how to determine what courts you are competitive for, how to select judges, and how and when to apply for clerkships.

This first session of the Early Bar Preparation Series will introduce 3L's to the structure of most state bars, and will also address the Multistate Performance Test (MPT) which is a part of many bar exams. Students can easily begin practicing MPTs NOW in order to be ready for the bar exam in July.

Scheduling for preselected students ends at 11:58 p.m. Alternate students may begin scheduling available interviews at 9 a.m. on Monday, February 14. Alternate scheduling is on a first-come, first-served basis.
