    PSCD - Student Bidding Ends

    Hosted annually by the UT Law Career Services Office, Public Service Career Day (PSCD) is the largest public service job fair for law students in Texas. Student bidding ends on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at noon.

    During both days of PSCD, which will be held February 3-4, 2011, public interest and government employers will conduct on-campus interviews for paid and unpaid summer and permanent positions. On day one of the fair, certain employers will also host informational tables in the Law School's Susman Godfrey Atrium from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

    First, second, third-year and/or LL.M. students and alumni up to one year after graduation from all nine Texas law schools are eligible to participate in this program. You must register to use the Texas Consortium Symplicity Module, which is a different module than the UT Law Symplicity.

    The Law School will hold its Excellence in Diversity Celebration January 14-15 with Dean Larry Sager, Senator Rodney Ellis, '79, and students of the Asian Law Students Association, Chicano/Hispanic Law Students Association, and The Thurgood Marshall Legal Society. This event will be held at the AT&T Executive Conference Center.

    Preselected students may begin scheduling via the Texas Consortium Symplicity Module for Public Service Career Day (PSCD), which is the largest public service job fair for law students in Texas.

    Scheduling for preselected students ends on Monday, January 17, 2011 at noon. Alternate students may begin scheduling available interviews at 6 p.m. Alternate scheduling is on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Energy Law Symposium

    The Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, & Energy Law welcomes all students and faculty to attend the 6th Annual Energy Law Symposium at the AT&T Center. Speakers include attorneys from the Texas Legislature, Public Utilities Commission, and local and national law firms.

    TLF Informational Meeting

    There is an informational meeting for any student interested in running for a Texas Law Fellowship. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 26th from 3:15PM to 4:15PM in room 2.139. TLF provides funding for law students who work for public interest organizations for a minimum of 10 weeks over the summer. Students should attend the meeting for more information about the details and requirements for running.     International Students Interview Program

    The International Student Interview Program (ISIP) is hosted annually by New York University School of Law. This consortium event is sponsored by 32 law schools nationwide to facilitate the hiring of highly qualified foreign-trained lawyers enrolled in LL.M. programs at each school. Over 1,100 candidates representing 75+ countries will have an opportunity to be considered for internship and permanent positions in the United States and abroad. The program attracts more than 120 of the top legal employers from around the world. ISIP 2011 will take place on NYU School of Law’s campus in Greenwich Village on January 28-29, 2011.

    Public Service Career Day Table Talk

    During the first day of Public Service Career Day, representatives from public interest organizations, as well as federal, state and local government agencies will host informational tables, which provide an excellent opportunity for students to network and find out about current volunteer opportunities, summer internships and postgraduate positions. All UT Law students are encouraged to stop by. Please be sure to bring a copy of your resume for participating PSCD Table Talk employers as they may request a copy.

    Seventh Tarlton Annual Rare Books Lectur

    Tarlton Law Library will be hosting the Seventh Annual Rare Books Lecture February 3, 2011. Professor William Butler will be presenting a talk on the library of American Philosophical Society founder, Peter Stephen Du Ponceau. 2010 represented the 250 anniversary of the death of this fascinating lawyer and linguist. Light refreshments will be served following the lecture.

    DVSSN Spring All-members Meeting

    At this meeting:

    1) we will briefly talk about the help DVSSN has provided to survivors of domestic violence since last semester's wildly successful Pumpkins & Poker poker tournament; 2) we will talk about our up-coming Happy Hour fundraiser; 3) we will discuss advocacy, education, and outreach projects that are coming down the pipe-line; 4) we will ask for suggestions for this semester and beyond from all of you; and 5) we will be available to discuss openings in the board for those students who are interested in helping lead DVSSN next semester.

    Thank you for all your help this Fall with Pumpkins & Poker. We look forward to another great semester, helping to close the gap for domestic violence survivors in need and promoting the field of domestic violence law.
