    PMF Application Deadline

    For the Presidential Management Fellowship Class of 2012, students who complete a graduate degree (master's, law, or doctoral-level degree) during the 2011-12 academic year (September 1, 2011 - August 31, 2012) from a qualifying college or university are eligible for consideration. Be sure to read the PMF website timelines and site in full, as there are many details you'll need to keep in mind. The online application is open from September 15-25, 2011.

    PMF finalists are selected through the following selection process: 1) online application for the PMF program; 2) nomination by their school; 3) online assessment that measures leadership skills and judgment; and 4) if chosen as a semi-finalist, completing an in-person interview that measures leadership skills and judgment.

    In order to be considered for nomination by the Law School, you must submit hard copies of your resume, unofficial transcript, a brief statement addressing your interest in federal government service, and the nomination form, to Denyse Demel in the CSO (TNH 3.130) or at ddemel@law.utexas.edu by 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2011. Materials received after the deadline will not be considered for nomination.

    "Declaration of Intent" Timely Deadline

    The Declaration of Intent to Study Law must be filed by all persons who have begun their law study at ABA-approved schools in Texas and intend to apply for licensure in Texas.

    Your Declaration must be filed or postmarked by October 1st to be considered timely-filed. A $150 late fee will be imposed on all Declarations filed after October 1st.

    The TX BLE office is not open on weekends; if you would like to hand deliver your completed application by the end of the Friday September 30 business day, the TX BLE office is located at:

    205 W. 14th St. Ste 500, Austin, TX 78701

    You're encouraged to arrive well in advance of the 5 PM closing time.

    Late-filing Declarants may file at any time prior to or concurrent with the filing of their In-State Application to Take the Texas Bar Exam.

    Town Hall Meeting with Dean Sager

    On October 6 at 11:30 AM, the SBA and I are sponsoring a Town Hall Meeting. I will give a report on the State of the Law School, take questions, and join in a discussion with all of you who come. Prime among the topics I plan to take up are:

    • The Deanship • Budgetary Matters, including Tuition • New Faculty and New Programs • The Employment Picture

    Our meeting will be in the Susman Godfrey Atrium. Cookies and soft drinks will be served. The refreshments will be available at 11:15. I’ll make my remarks at 11:30. We’ll leave plenty of time for questions and discussion.

    This is the first Town Hall meeting of the year. The SBA and I plan several meetings, where we can take up other questions or explore some of these questions in greater depth.
