    PDI - Registration Opens

    Online registration for the UT Law Professional Development Institute: Prepared For Practice will open on Tuesday, November 29, at 10:00 p.m. Enrollment is limited, and will be awarded on a first-come basis to the first 125 UT Law students who register. In order for your registration to be accepted, you must commit to attending all six sessions. Please note that registrants will receive a link to a DISC Assessment during the week of January 9, 2012. The DISC will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and must be brought to the first session on Friday, January 20, 2012.

    TX July '12 Bar Exam Apps Now Accepted

    Reminder for 3Ls planning to sit for the Texas July 2012 Bar Exam: your In-State Application to Take the TX Bar Exam may be timely-filed with the Texas Board of Law Examiners (BLE) between today and the Jan. 30, 2012 timely-filing deadline. This deadline is strictly enforced. A $150 late fee will apply for all applications filed after Jan. 30 and up to the March 30, 2012 absolute postmark deadline.

    Applicants who have not yet filed their Declaration of Intention to Study Law must do so prior to or with their In-State Application.

    Screening of 'Granito'

    Please join us for a screening of "Granito: How to Nail a Dictator," an award-winning documentary film that chronicles Guatemala’s internal armed conflict, and subsequent efforts to bring the perpetrators of massive human rights violations during that period to justice. Peter Kinoy, one of the filmmakers, will participate in a question and answer session following the film.

    This event is part of the "Politics of Memory: Guatemala's National Police Archive" conference, which will continue all day on Friday, December 2, in the Eidman Courtroom at the UT School of Law.

    Politics of Memory

    The Bernard and Audre Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice, the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies, and University of Texas Libraries are pleased to host a conference on December 2nd entitled "Politics of Memory: Guatemala's National Police Archive." This interdisciplinary conference will celebrate the unveiling of a UT-hosted digital archive that will serve as an on-line digital repository for millions of documents from the Historic Archive of the National Police of Guatemala. The conference will consider how use of the Archive has helped to deepen understanding of Guatemala's history, and to advance human rights, both crucial to the strengthening of Guatemala's embattled democracy.

    PSCF - Student Bidding Begins

    Hosted annually by the UT Law Career Services Office, Public Service Career Fair (PSCF) is the largest public service job fair for law students in Texas. Student bidding begins on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 and ends on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at noon.

    During both days of the Fair, which will be held January 26-27, 2012, public interest and government employers will conduct on-campus interviews for paid and unpaid summer and permanent positions. On day one of the fair, certain employers will also host informational tables in the Law School's Susman Godfrey Atrium from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

    First, second, third-year and/or domestic or foreign-trained LL.M. students and recent graduates (up to one year after graduation) from all nine Texas law schools are eligible to participate in this program. You must register to use the Texas Consortium Symplicity Module, which is a different module than the UT Law Symplicity.
