    Each spring the CSO presents a Mock Interview Program where attorneys come on campus to provide mock interviews with 1L students prior to Spring OCI and Public Service Career Fair. If interview slots remain available, the CSO will notify 2Ls and 3Ls that they may register as well. 1Ls may now schedule two more interviews (for a total of three overall).     Judicial Internships in the Summer

    Judicial internships are open to all students including 1Ls. There are hundreds of summer judicial internship opportunities available throughout the nation. You may be able to receive school credit if you intern for a federal district, federal appellate, or state appellate judge, including receiving three hours of credit for interning at the Texas Supreme Court, Court of Criminal Appeals, and the Third Court of Appeals. UT Law students and judicial advisors, will discuss their judicial internship experiences and how they secured their positions.

    Panelists include the following 3Ls: Chris Jones, Lauren Fitte, Brittany Artimez and Raul Garcia; Mary Crouter, Assistant Director of the William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law; and Remi Ratliff, Director of Judicial Programs with the Career Services Office.

    U.S. Navy JAG Informational Session

    Come learn about opportunities to practice law in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps program, including the internship program from FCC Brad Cook, Officer Recruiter, and LTjg Victor Marquez. They will be available to answer questions about the Navy in general, the U.S. Navy JAG Corps program specifically, and will assist students in application process should they decide to apply. Students should bring a copy of their resume to the session. Lunch will be served.

    Pro Bono in Private Practice

    Students interested in making pro bono work an important part of their law firm careers are invited to learn more about the benefits of pro bono work. Steven Schulman, Pro Bono Partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP (Washington, DC) will discuss law firm pro bono programs and the importance of pro bono service in your legal career. Information on Akin Gump’s Pro Bono Scholars Program will also be provided. Akin Gump’s Pro Bono Scholars program is now available in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, DC. Upon commencement of work at the public interest organization, Pro Bono Scholars will receive a stipend of $20,000, and are paid the standard summer associate salary while at the firm.

    Boxed lunches will be served and are sponsored by Akin Gump. Co-sponsored by the UT Law Pro Bono Program and the Career Services Office.

    Law firms and other legal employers increasingly use receptions and networking events to make initial contact with law students. They also frequently follow up interviews with a business lunch or dinner. Mary Crane (www.marycrane.com) will provide participants 10 rules to get the most out of any networking event and 10 more rules to manage a business meal. Mary has been featured on 60 Minutes, Fox Business News and ABC Radio.
