Please join us for the first event in our spring Human Rights Happy Hour Speaker Series. Professor Jorge Contesse of the Universidad Diego Portales in Chile will present a talk entitled “Inter-American Constitutionalism: The Creation and Internalization of Human Rights.” The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Monday, February 20th, from 3:30-5:30pm, in TNH 3.142 at the University of Texas School of Law. Daniel Brinks, Associate Professor of Government and Co-Director of the Rapoport Center, will serve as a respondent to his talk.

An impressive array of scholars from Africa, Latin America, South Asia, and the United States will provide comparative perspectives on such topics as changing conceptions of property, the role of property rights in dispossession and redistribution, and the implications of private titling.

Law students perform in a mock trial with Gold E. Locks, a well-known storybook figure, as the defendant. The Honorable Edward C. Prado, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, will preside. Children in the courtroom will be selected to serve as the jurors.
