    The NDAA & Indefinite Detention

    Join the American Constitution Society for a lunchtime panel discussion on the National Defense Authorization Act, featuring Professor Robert Chesney, Professor Ranjana Natarajan, and Professor Ahmed Ghappour. We will focus on the conflict between national security and civil liberties inherent in certain provisions of the bill. This promises to be a fascinating debate.

    Tarlton Talks with former SCOTUS Clerks

    Do you wonder what your professors work on outside of the classroom? Here’s your chance to find out! Our next speakers, Professor John Golden and UT alum and Adjunct Professor Scott Keller, clerked for the Supreme Court of the United States and will speak about their experiences.     3L Early Bar Prep - Con Law

    The bar exam includes 200 multiple choice questions in six basic areas of law, including Conlaw. In this session, students will review basic portions of Con Law with Prof. Erwin Chemerinsky in preparation for the July Bar exam. Students will also answer sample bar questions on Con Law, using skills learned in earlier sessions.

Mr. Jana is one of the leading experts in Latin America on the law of international arbitration. He currently serves as Chile’s delegate to the United Nations Convention on International Trade Law.

    Property Rights Conference

    This multidisciplinary and comparative conference will explore the ambivalent relationship between human rights and property and the extent to which the right to property might advance a human rights agenda. An impressive array of scholars from Africa, Latin America, South Asia, and the United States will provide comparative perspectives on such topics as changing conceptions of property, the role of property rights in dispossession and redistribution, and the implications of private titling.

    Speed Networking

    Back by popular demand! Participating students will have the opportunity to network one-on-one with legal professionals from a variety of practice areas, as well as fellow students, during several short (8-10 minutes) speed networking rounds from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Due to the structure of the program, we request that participants commit to attend the entire speed networking portion of the event from 5:30-6:30 p.m. There will be a reception with hors d’ouevres following the speed networking portion of the event sponsored by Lateral Link. Dress is business casual.

    Space is limited to the first 50 students who sign up on UT Law Symplicity (select the “Events” tab). There will be a waitlist option should the event fill up early.

    Law students perform in a mock trial with Gold E. Locks, a well-known storybook figure, as the defendant. The Honorable Edward C. Prado, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, will preside. Children in the courtroom will be selected to serve as the jurors.
