Writing Sample: Your writing sample can be any legal memo or brief that you have written either for school or work. It must include citations. You are welcome to use the memo you wrote for your LRW class. 3. Personal Statement: State in a concise manner why you are interested in environmental law of joining TELJ. The Human Rights Law Society has invited UT Law alumnus and Equal Justice Center attorney Kayvon Sabourian to speak about his experience representing 21 of the 200+ plaintiffs in the case. This is a great opportunity to learn about issues surrounding the H2-B guest worker program as well as the rarely discussed form of human trafficking that is labor trafficking. Professor Laycock will discuss Town of Greece, currently pending before the U.S. Supreme Court, which involves the legal limits on public prayer in government meetings. He argued before the Court on behalf of Galloway last fall. Douglas Laycock, one of the nation's leading authorities on the law of remedies and also on the law of religious liberty, visits the law school as the G. Rollie White Public Interest Scholar in Residence. He will discuss Town of Greece v. Galloway, a case he argued before the U.S. Supreme Court last fall that may clarify the legal limits on public prayer in government meetings. Laycock has testified frequently before Congress and has argued many cases in the courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. He is the author of the leading casebook Modern American Remedies; the award-winning monograph The Death of the Irreparable Injury Rule; and many articles in the leading law reviews. He has co-edited a collection of essays, Same-Sex Marriage and Religious Liberty, and he recently published Religious Liberty, Volume I: Overviews and History, and Volume II: The Free Exercise Clause. These two volumes are the first half of a four-volume collection of his many writings on religious liberty. Laycock is vice president of the American Law Institute, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the 2009 winner of the National First Freedom Award from the Council on America's First Freedom.
