    Professional Development Institute

    The Texas Law Professional Development Institute: Prepared For Practice is taught by industry experts and practicing attorneys, covering facets of new attorney professionalism most sought after by legal employers. It is promoted widely to employers, many of whom contributed to the content of the program.

    Whether you're a 1L preparing for your first summer clerkship or the fall recruiting season, a 2L working to turn your summer clerkship or fellowship into an offer, or a graduating 3L getting a head start on your legal career, the Texas Law Professional Development Institute (PDI), which is presented each Spring, will help you be a more competitive candidate and a better lawyer.

    Online registration will open at noon on January 4, and close at 5 p.m. on January 12, 2018 and will be awarded on a first-come basis. Please note that 2Ls and 3Ls who attended last year may sign up for this year’s Institute.

    Winning a Federal Jury Verdict

    Cameron Byrd ('15) and Kelsi Stayart White ('15), Lawyers at AZA in Houston, are joining Professor Jay Westbrook and Professor Tracy McCormack for a discussion about the insights they've learned from their recent federal jury trial win, including: Why you should take classes like Secured Credit; How to turn complex legal ideas in to plain English; How 2 second-year UT Law grads won a federal jury verdict; And, how they got the opportunity in the first place.

    How to Rock Your Legal Interviews

    Join us for this interactive program designed to prepare you to ace every interview. You will identify your unique professional strengths and practice putting those strengths in the most favorable light to ensure your best chance at getting a job offer. You will leave the program with confidence in your ability to both prepare for and rock every interview whether it’s in the private or public sector.

    Led by Sarah D. Carlson, a Wall Street attorney and international volunteer turned career coach and professor. Specializing in the Art of Professional Narrative and Self-Advocacy, Sarah mentors and coaches hundreds of law students and lawyers throughout the country on all aspects of their careers.
